April 29 The Frank Slide occurs on the east face of Turtle Mountain, destroys part of the village of Frank, and kills 70 people. David Alexander Stewart (great-great-uncle of Dr. Rod Read) returns to Frank to assist in the medical emergency and to make observations on the condition of Turtle Mountain following the slide.
